I absolutely adore my Gifted and Talented students at both Orvis Risner and Will Rogers. They challenge
me in ways that I can only hope to challenge them. Previously, I taught 2 nd grade in Shawnee after
graduating from Oklahoma Baptist University. While teaching 2 nd grade I met my husband at a teaching
conference. After marrying, we moved to Edmond where he taught 5 th grade and I began teaching 3 rd
grade. I gained a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Central
Oklahoma. My husband and I have 2 daughters, Addison and Reese and 2 dogs, Sunny and Marci. We
consider ourselves very fortunate to be a part of the Edmond community.

Media Specialist:

Rachel Oard

Fall 2017 will begin my fourth year as the Library Media Specialist at Orvis Risner Elementary. I have two Masters degrees, one of which is in Library Science. I love enabling kids to become life-long learners through reading for pleasure as well as for information! On a personal note, my family includes my husband and our 8 pets. In my free time, I try to keep up with nerdy pop culture, technology, and, of course, books! I love sharing my nerdy side with students and geeking out with them about similar interests.
