I am beginning my 30th year in education and have served in numerous capacities. I have taught every grade from PK-12 with the exception of 4th and 5th grade. I was a former Title I Reading teacher and a Reading First Instructional Coach. I have served as the director of Reading and Literacy for the State Department of Education, director of Title I and Elementary Education for Guthrie Public Schools. This is my third year as principal of Orvis Risner Elementary and I love every minute of my day. I am married to my husband, Tim. We have four adult children and 5 grandsons. Our house is also shared with our lab “Biscuit” and our cat “Conway Kitty”. My favorite past times are gardening, reading, shopping and riding on the trails of Colorado in our four wheeler.
This is my seventh year as an educator, and I am proud to be an Orvis Risner Eagle. I have taught kindergarten, third grade, and fourth grade prior to becoming an administrator. My passion as administrator is to empower students to grow and succeed.
I am blessed to be working with the Orvis Risner families and staff as the school psychologist. Prior to moving to Oklahoma, I worked in Kansas as a special education teacher and later, as a school psychologist. My husband and I have two children, who have settled in the Oklahoma City area. We enjoy our time with our children and grandchildren.
This is my 9th year in education. I have taught kindergarten, 3rd and 4th grades and one year in middle school. This is my 4th years as the school counselor at Orvis Risner. I am early childhood and elementary certified. I also hold certification in middle school social studies and guidance and counseling. I love being able to help shape the lives of young people. I love spending time in the mountains hiking, biking and skiing. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 32 years. Together we have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren.
